pumpkin painting

This year my little chick-a-dee decided she wanted to paint a family of pumpkins instead of carving any. No complaints from this mama!

So between myself, my son, and her we painted up a set of 5 pumpkins to represent the family. Pay close attention to the littlest pumpkin, the baby. Natalie painted a frown and fangs on him because he's cutting his molars, he's grumpy and biting everything. Priceless!

Yellow!

Today is the first day the sun has peeked out in awhile. Glorious! It's amazing how the sun, or lack thereof can really affect your mood. So in honor of the beautiful sunshine beaming down on my house, I'm posting some fav yellow things of mine that have turned up at my house.

First, if you've ever read my profile at my original etsy shop you'll read about my first sewing experience making a fuzzy yellow pillow. I knew my mom had kept it and it was somewhere stored away at the house. I see my mom over the weekend and she hands me a big "bag o' stuff" from my college years. I get home, reach into the bag, and, oh yeah, there's the pillow. I guess she found it and decided to surprise me with it. So here it is, the infamous pillow. :)

Look at that stitching! I'm surprised it's stayed together for 20 odd years. I promise my sewing skills have improved since then. :)

The next yellow, is this fabulous muffin bakeware I bought off QVC. I'm not one to watch or buy off QVC, but my mom who is not one to buy off QVC either did happen upon some fabulous bakeware. When I saw this, I had to have it. But now I realize I need another set because I bake all my muffins in sets of 12, not six. I'm thinking Christmas present to me....

And, last but not least...

it's all done, finally

Finally, finally, finally, I finished the quilting and the binding of my nine-patch quilt. It's embarrassing as to how loooong this took. But it's done. I made a lot of mistakes, and I've learned a whole heck of a lot. So, in that regard, it's a success.

I just had to share my view all morning. I know one day I will long to see this again, but right now....

Since I finished that quilt, I'm on to another! Yippee!

great music

i seriously love these guys.

i think i could allow myself to be obsessive. luckily my husband's not the jealous type! :)

i've enjoyed a nice afternoon with a great cup of coffee, great music, and creating some really cool tea towels for the shop. couldn't ask for much more, except maybe that my husband joined me. he's in france and i'm feeling a little lost without him here.

I'm having a sale

I try and not self promote here too much, but I thought I would pass along a great deal to y'all. I'm moving out a lot of my items so I can focus on my new line and new store. I've marked down all my zipper pouches from $10 to $7. All of my pouches are generously sized so they are perfect for cosmetics or travel.

Big Changes!

I've been away from the blog for awhile busy with a new project. And I'm so excited about it! Just giddy with anticipation!

Purple Daisies will now become Piecefully Home! Or at least it will be soon. I've been toying with changing the name for such a long time now. I kind of stumbled backward into Purple Daisies when I first started but I never really loved the name. Along with the new name, comes a new feel to the shop. I want to focus primarily on home items and not so much on bags and baby bibs. The best part is that I get to indulge my new found love of graphic arts!

I can't wait to show you the new cards that my long deceased great-aunt Mae helped me to create. But, that's all the hint I'll give for now.

fabric

I had an urge to get creative. Now, when to find the time...

On an entirely different note, I found this blog posting from awhile ago and loved it. This was exactly what this mama needed to hear today.
